Review:
I was on the verge of writing this band off until this release. Gone are the simplistic post hardcore patterns, poor production values and off key singing from 'Shivers'; instead Helia have stepped up their game and produced a unique and memorable record. Sure some parts are borrowed; such as the breakdowns which are carbon copied from any metalcore act on Rise Records. However they've got a much keener sense for melody than other metalcore acts, meshing brutality and memorable hook driven choruses seamlessly. The production is also solid, and vocals have also seen a huge improvement, exploring a greater range. Technicality wise, this is step forwards in every element; this is band which has started taking things seriously.
